Gait Laboratory

At the end of December, Orthotic Active are proud to announce that even more technology will be available to aid in your treatment goals and outcomes.
A 2 -metre force plate and 2 camera high speed camera analysis system will be installed at our 616 Great South road address. This will allow biomechanical data along with video analysis for treatment planning and measurement of outcomes measures.
Our two lead clinicians have over 35 years joint experience on force plate and gait lab analysis, and have worked in both public, private and research environments using this technology overseas.
Either referred to treat an existing condition, prevent further injury or performance enhancement, the use of the gait laboratory information will lead to achieving the goals you are after.
Force plates come in many shapes and sizes, the utilization of the 2-metre plate allows us to capture not only foot pressure data, but any abnormalities in timing and cadence data, if the foot ankle complex is performing as it should and whether both side are functioning within normal or your ranges, balanced. Acceleration and deceleration phases, load line progression angles and centre of gravity progression are all part of the dynamic force place analysis data.

This can all be compared to post treatment data, whether the treatment is physiotherapy, orthotic or surgical, using comparative data and therefore further fine tuning undertaken if necessary.

Adding high speed video analysis to this enhances the ability to capture what the clinical eye may miss, and slow this gait with the state or the art digital capture cameras sampling at 80-1000 frames per second. Reports can be analysed by comparing videos, capturing still data for comparison as well as all kinematic data ( measurements of the joint angles) at different points in the gait cycle.
A full assessment and overview can be undertaken by making an appointment at Orthotic Active.
